Prevent Cat From Defecating In Flower Pot

In a plant pot, plastic wire mesh or mat mesh is spread out on the ground. to stop cats from defecating (pooping) on the soil in the pot.

A huge pot filled with multiple plants is seen in the image above. It's close to the floor made of paving blocks. Cats may easily access it as a result. Cats can easily dig through the soft soil surrounding the plants. Cats can thus comfortably relieve themselves in the pot.

The mat is resistant to rust and corrosion, because it is made of plastic. This mat is standard. Not a mat covered in upward-pointing spikes, which is typically used to keep dogs and cats from stepping on it.

The mat weaving are spaced about one to two centimeters apart.

It is possible to empty the pot's central section without a mat. Because cats are blocked by plants. But if the plants are not dense enough, then the center section must be covered with a mat.

It is possible to join the mats by weaving the mat weaves of one mat into the other.

You can put coral stones on top of the mat. There are a lot of white coral stones in the picture. Both as ornamentation and as a weight to secure the mat. However, an excessive amount of stones may make the soil less productive.

Do not spread small coral stones or gravel. In addition to being able to slip through the holes in the woven mat. Also because it can be easily moved or shifted by cats. And cats consider gravel the same as sand. Cats will defecate on gravel.

In the pot, there are yellow walking iris (neomarica longifolia, trimezia martinicensis), and lavender (lavandula) which smell sweet and can repel mosquitoes.

If there are still cats defecating on the mat. Then stick several 12-centimeter nails around the place where the cat defecates. The nail head is stuck into the ground, so that the sharp end of the nail points up.

Do not install nails on wood or other hard bases. Because the sharp end of the nail points up. It can be dangerous if someone steps on the nail. Especially on low pots and can be stepped on by people's feet, as in the photo.

But if the nail is stuck into loose or soft soil, without a hard base. Then the nail will sink or go deeper into the ground if stepped on by someone. The stepper's foot won't be punctured by the nail. Despite the pointy end pointing upwards.

If necessary, blunt the sharp end of the nail. Replace the nail if it is rusty. Nails that are painted in a bright color, which contrasts with the surrounding color, can be safer, and protected from rust.
